Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Molecules invites submissions for a Special Issue on "Peptides and Peptide Mimetics: Design, Synthesis, and Applications". This Special Issue aims to showcase the latest advancements in the design, synthesis, and innovative applications of peptides and peptide mimetics across various fields, including medicinal chemistry, drug development, and biotechnology. Peptides and peptide mimetics have garnered significant attention due to their versatility, specificity, and potential to modulate biological pathways. This Special Issue will focus on groundbreaking research in the synthesis of novel peptides and peptide-like molecules, advances in peptide modification techniques, and the development of bioactive peptides for therapeutic applications. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and short communications on topics including, but not limited to:
- Peptide Design and Synthesis: Novel strategies for synthesizing bioactive peptides, including solid-phase and solution-phase synthesis, and new methods for peptide modification.
- Peptide Mimetics: Development of peptide-like compounds with enhanced stability, bioavailability, and efficacy, including peptoids, foldamers, and other mimetics.
- Therapeutic Applications: Design and evaluation of peptides and peptide mimetics as potential therapeutics in cancer, infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, and neurological conditions.
- Peptide-Based Drug Delivery Systems: Advances in using peptides as vehicles for targeted drug delivery, including self-assembling peptides, cell-penetrating peptides, and receptor-targeting peptides. Biotechnological Applications: Novel uses of peptides and mimetics in biotechnology, including biosensors, diagnostics, and as tools for molecular imaging.
- Structure–Activity Relationship (SAR) Studies: Elucidating SARs of bioactive peptides and mimetics to optimize efficacy and selectivity. Computational Approaches: The role of computational chemistry in peptide design, molecular modeling, and predicting peptide interactions with biological targets.
All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest quality of published research. We encourage authors from academia, industry, and interdisciplinary research fields to contribute to this Special Issue, which aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current trends and future directions in peptide science. We look forward to your contributions to this exciting issue.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
