Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Infrared science and technology is a promising advanced field and has been widely used in military fields such as satellite imaging; missile guidance; and the detection of fighters, vehicles, and ships, etc. It has also been used in civil fields such as electric power, fire protection, industrial defect detection, medical treatment, night vision monitoring, law enforcement of public security organs, environmental pollution monitoring, inspection of power plants and transmission lines, etc. The prospects for these applications are even more exciting with artificial intelligence technology. This technology offers remarkable advantages to improve the application range of infrared science and technology.
This Special Issue aims to report theoretical and experimental advances in infrared science and technology, covering the field of infrared theory, imaging system design, experiment, application, devices, instrumentation, etc.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Infrared spectroscopy, theory, and applications;
- Infrared imaging device design, optimization, testing, and applications;
- Infrared technology applications in the areas of industrial inspection, pollution, and monitoring, biomedical and medical, remote sensing, nondestructive testing, etc.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Photonics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
