Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Dalian University of Technology (DUT), we are excited to announce the launch of a Special Issue dedicated to polymer materials. We cordially invite scholars and researchers to submit their groundbreaking papers and share their latest research findings and innovative discoveries in this vibrant field.

Dalian University of Technology is a national key university that is directly administrated by the Ministry of Education of China and sponsored by Project 211 and Project 985. In September 2017, after approval by the State Council, DUT was selected as a university of the “Double First-Class” Initiative, category A. It has formed a multi-disciplinary system that focuses on science and engineering and coordinates the disciplines of economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, and arts. The university is committed to cultivating elite talent, advancing scientific and technological progress, preserving and promoting cultural excellence, and influencing societal values.

Dalian University of Technology boasts a strong reputation for its robust research capabilities and outstanding research teams in the field of polymer materials. Over the years, the scholars of DLUT have dedicated themselves to enhancing the science of polymer materials and achieving significant results regarding the utilization of synthesis methods, performance control, functional design, and application research, thereby contributing actively to advancements in this domain

This call for papers welcomes original research articles that address all aspects of polymer materials, including synthesis, structure and properties, processing and applications, and theoretical and simulation studies. Submissions should be innovative, scientifically significant, and adhere to the journal's submission guidelines. Please submit your manuscripts online via the official website of this journal and specify "Special Issue for the 75th Anniversary of Dalian University of Technology" in the submission system.

We eagerly anticipate your contributions, which will join us in honoring the 75th anniversary of Dalian University of Technology.

This Special Issue is open to all potential authors working at Dalian University of Technology and their co-authors from other institutions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.

The terpolymerization of ethylene with hexene and styrene derivatives was achieved with a rare earth metal catalyst (C5Me4SiMe3)Sc(CH2C6H4NMe2-o)2 to prepare functional polyethylene. The catalyst system exhibited high activity in the terpolymerization of ethylene with hexene and amine-substituted styrene, affording terpolymers a moderate molecular weight and a unimodal molecular weight distribution. In addition, the comonomer content of the terpolymers can be controlled by changing the feeding ratio of monomers. The aliphatic region of the 13C NMR spectra reveals that the structural units of the comonomers are separately incorporated into the polyethylene backbone. Terpolymers containing styrene derivatives exhibit enhanced tensile strength and significantly improve hydrophilic properties. Full article
