Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Electroactive polymers and composites materials have been increasingly explored for a number of applications spanning from biomedical use to energy generation. These materials have many properties and they lend themselves to be structured in various different ways by adopting a wide range of techniques. Indeed films, hydrogels, 3D-sponge like materials have been created and investigated for their chemical, mechanical, electrical and surface properties. In this special issue we focus on 3D materials and devices for in vitro and in vivo bioelectronic applications.
With this special issue we are soliciting original submissions contributing with novel aspects to the field. We would like to bring together new data of the use of electroactive polymers and composite materials (organic-inorganic blends) and their investigation at the interface with in vitro and in vivo biological systems (e.g. mammalian, non-mammalian cells), but also for the generation of energy (e.g., microbial fuel cells). Also, we encourage articles where the conducting polymers are actuated via a external stimuli (e.g., electrical, optoelectronics).
