About Proteomes
Aims
Proteomes (ISSN 2227-7382) is an open access, peer reviewed journal focused on all aspects of proteome analysis with a special focus on the quantification and characterisation of the proteome at the level of proteoforms and the functional biological units of canonical amino acid sequences. Together with this focus on proteoform level analysis of proteomes, through identification of intact proteoforms or proteotypic peptides that define a proteoform, we also encourage articles that accurately utilise any methods (i.e., discovery and targeted) that quantify and characterise the proteome, as well as reports of new and updated methods and technologies that enhance the accurate quantification and characterisation of the proteome providing evidence of biological mechanisms, whether peptide-centric or proteoform focused. Articles emphasising a multi-/transdisciplinary (i.e., systems biology) approach combining different ‘omics’ techniques are welcomed. Our aim is to encourage researchers to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. Therefore, there is no restriction on the maximum length of regular papers.
Scope
Proteomes will publish work that investigates proteomes and/or applies/refines/optimises/introduces new proteomics technologies. This includes and may not be limited to:
- Whole proteome analysis of samples from any organism
- Proteoform analysis utilising a variety of methods
- Proteomes of diseases and pharmaceutical effects on proteoforms and the proteome
- Comparative proteomics
- Proteoform–proteoform and proteoform–target interactions
- Structural and functional proteomics
- Integration of proteomic and other ‘omics’ approaches/data (i.e., ‘multiomics’ and systems biology)
- Methodology and technology developments
- Developments in bioinformatics, data processing/integration, and statistical analysis
- Applications of proteomics
- Translational proteomics for precision medicine including clinical validation
- Proteome dynamics
MDPI Publication Ethics Statement
MDPI is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). MDPI takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure to add high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. MDPI takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy. To verify the originality of content submitted to our journals, we use iThenticate to check submissions against previous publications.
