Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue addresses key issues in the future of tourism research and development, covering a wide range of topics including (but not limited to) tourism and sustainability; tourism and hospitality; tourism innovations; tourism policies and the impact of international relations on tourism SNS (social networking sites), social media, and tourism; tourism and education; branding and tourism; destination marketing; and new trends in marketing communications in tourism. Papers addressing uncertainty in international politics and its impact on tourism destinations, eco-friendly tourism, and consumers’ concerns regarding sustainability; emerging tourism markets; and emergent topics in tourism research and development (i.e., eWOM, the use of virtual and augmented reality to market tourism services, tourism-oriented apps, etc.) are especially welcome. In this Special Issue, we also aim to cover the impact of technology on tourism services, consumer behavior, and new business models in tourism. Papers selected for this Special Issue may also address methodological developments in assessing the effectiveness of marketing communications and tourism research (i.e., neuroscience, big data, machine learning, data mining, text mining, sentiment analysis, etc.). This Special Issue accepts both theoretical papers and empirical research papers using qualitative methods, quantitative methods, and mixed-methods research. Cross-cultural research analyzing culture-based effects in tourism research are also welcome.
