Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We hope that this Special Issue, which deals with current issues of management and innovation in physical education, physical activity and sport, will attract your attention. We believe that it responds to a very current and demanded topic.
The technological revolution (also called Third Industrial Revolution or Scientific-Technological Revolution) has meant an increasing use of digital media since its beginning in the 1960s and 1970s. The 2010s saw the widespread use of technologies aimed at interconnectivity between people. This digitization and increase of online interconnectivity had its peak during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced us to rethink the management systems for teaching in physical education, the practice of physical activity for leisure and recreation, and even the maintenance of the practice of high-performance sport. This whole accelerated process of technologization has meant a paradigm shift in the management of the physical-sports experience that can only be successfully faced from the perspective of innovation. We are not only talking about technological innovation per se that facilitates the practice of physical activity in both regulated and unregulated contexts, but also about innovative processes and methods that include technologies and online interpersonal interactions in this practice. Physical education, physical activity and sport have to adapt to this new reality; how can this be done while keeping intact the potential of the analogical experience?
We invite you, through this Special Issue, to reflect and publish your experiences and research in this field, related to innovation in the management of teaching, physical activity and sport; as well as different areas that are similar to the call and that you believe may be of interest.
