Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) offer an international framework to end poverty, protect the planet, and improve the lives and prospects of everyone. Five years after the adoption of the SDGs, progress has definitely been made, but substantial challenges still remain. In particular now, when the world needs to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, debate is ongoing on the importance of sustainable development. This Special Issue therefore bundles research and opinions on the importance of sustainable development for our planet and society, especially as part of a resilience and recovery strategy.
This Special Issue furthermore also aims to explore the challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of the SDGs by authorities at national and subnational level and by companies that wish to engage in systemic transformation. In many organizations, governmental and private, SDGs are increasingly taken up in strategies and associated action plans. However, many organizations also struggle to go beyond communication and sensitization and progress toward systemic change. This Special Issue has been supported by the Sustainable Development Solutions (SDSN) Network. SDSN Belgium is guest editor of this special issue.
