We invite submissions for a Special Issue of MDPI's Waste, focusing on "Innovations in Waste Management: Technological Solutions and Business Models". Our aim is to explore cutting-edge advancements in waste management, emphasizing both innovative technological solutions and novel business models that contribute to sustainable and efficient waste management practices.
We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies that address a wide range of topics. Potential subjects include, but are not limited to: Advanced waste-sorting technologies: explore state-of-the-art technologies for waste sorting, recycling, and upcycling, with a focus on automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Waste-to-energy Solutions: highlight innovative approaches for converting waste into energy, such as anaerobic digestion, incineration, and emerging technologies like plasma gasification. Circular economy initiatives: showcase circular economy models and strategies that promote the reduction, reuse, and recycling of waste materials to minimize environmental impact. Smart waste management systems: present intelligent systems and data-driven approaches for optimizing waste collection, transportation, and disposal, enhancing overall operational efficiency. Entrepreneurial ventures and business models: explore new and sustainable business models that address waste management challenges, fostering economic growth while minimizing environmental harm.
Contributions from researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers are welcome for the purpose of providing a comprehensive overview of the current landscape and future prospects in waste management. This Special Issue aims to foster collaboration, share insights, and inspire new directions for addressing the global challenges associated with waste management. Join us in shaping the future of sustainable waste practices through this collection of up to 15–20 thought-provoking articles. Submissions can be made through the journal's online submission system until July 31, 2024.
