Design Strategies for Battery Energy Storage and Electric Vehicles to Promote Circular Economy
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EV) and the increased electrification of transportation, there is an anticipation of widespread proliferation of battery energy storage devices and systems in the entire supply chain which requires careful planning to ensure that the market eco-system is truly contributing to the circular economy. Multi-faceted design strategies for the EV charging infrastructure including battery swapping, re-use, recycling, and green disposal are necessary to ensure that the original motivation of decarbonization and holistic sustainability is not compromised. We invite papers from academic scholars, industry leaders, and national public sector planners for them to share their current design thinking, latest technological advancements, standards, certification, and policies to achieve this goal. Sub-topics include but are not limited to:
- Green charging infrastructure—design for sustainability
- Battery swapping concepts and technologies
- Battery re-use, re-conditioning, recycling and n-life batteries
- Battery condition monitoring and health prognosis
- Battery and electric vehicle eco-systems
- Battery safety considerations and design for safety
- Battery and EV testing and certification
- Battery supply chain traceability
- Battery energy storage circular economy—policies and strategies
- Batteries and greenhouse emissions
- Sustainable energy storage devices, systems, and designs
