Joint Panchromatic and Multispectral Geometric Calibration Method for the DS-1 Satellite
Round 1

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe registration and fusion of panchromatic and multispectral images have important application value. The authors proposes a joint geometric calibration method for panchromatic and multispectral images using the detector structure cleverly designed by DS-1,yields a CCD splicing accuracy superior to 0.3 pixels, while the registration accuracy of panchro- 31
matic and multispectral bands exceeds 0.3 pixels. The controlled positioning accuracy is also better 32
than 1.5 meters, and the uncontrolled positioning accuracy is superior to 40 meters. Some minor issues, the authors need clarify:
1.What is the full name of DS-1?
2. Please confirm if Songshan is located in Hebei Province?
3.Please correct the writing errors in the lines 43, 313, and 331.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThis article presents a combined method for geometric calibration of satellite images. The article’s main contribution is the development of a joint panchromatic and multispectral geometric calibration method for the DS-1 satellite’s images. There are some suggestions as belows:
1.There are a large number of formulas in the text, but the reference of variables in the formulas is not explained clearly, and there are inconsistencies in formula editing and formatting. It is recommended that the author make modifications.
2.There are a large number of figures in the text, but the explanations for the figures are not clear enough. It is recommended to refine the explanations, for example, for Figure 7, it is not possible for readers to obtain effective information.
This paper has a certain amount of academic value and innovation in the field of satellite image processing. The method proposed by the author can effectively address the problems with existing geometric calibration methods, improving the quality and accuracy of satellite images. It has wide application prospects in fields such as remote sensing monitoring, resource investigation, and environmental monitoring. Additionally, this research provides new ideas and methodological for other research in the field of satellite image processing.
Overall, this is a relatively good article with a high level of academic value and practicality. The author has fully considered the characteristics and processing needs of satellite images in developing the proposed method, which has some innovation and practicality. I believe that this research result will help promote the development of the field of satellite image processing and provide useful references for related research fields.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsReview of the paper “Joint Panchromatic and Multispectral Geometric Calibration Method for DS-1 Satellite”
by Jiang et al.
The work is devoted to a very important area of scientific research - calibration of satellite measuring equipment. From the point of view of the direction of remote sensing methods, the article corresponds to the topic of the journal. The relevance of the research is beyond doubt. The proposed technique of calibration enhances the registration accuracy of both the panchromatic and multispectral spectral bands. The article is logically structured and overall well written.
A great job is done, and I do not see any significant obstacles to its publication, but I will note a few points that, in my opinion, should be addressed.
Abstract should be shortened. Too detailed enumeration of results. It is necessary to reduce and make only the main conclusions.
In the summary I would like to find more discussion and connection with other works. There are no references at all. A more detailed discussion of the results is needed.
A number of grammatical errors found.
It is necessary to carefully ensure that the abbreviations (CCD, DOM, DEM, SIFT, RPC etc.) appear first with the transcripts.
Further minor remarks (with line numbers):
34 “panchromatic and multispectral…. what?”
126 and 128 - scaling coefficients are the same. In the second case I suppose to see R^j2000_body
131 – degree “T”, which is absent in eq. 2-1
I would like to recommend that the authors double-check all formulas.
Eq. 2-18 – what is “p”?
242 “validate the validity” is bad
313 “Table 4Table 4”
363 please check the sentence
