Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I found this manuscript very interesting and relevant to this journal. However methodology section is very weak especially no information about accuracy analysis is provided about image being selected.

Also how did you analyze the impact of human intervention on lakes? A clear methodology with input data is missing here.

Reviewer 2 Report

I find this paper very interesting and important in the current times of environmental and human-induced disturbances in lakes. Below, you can find my specific comments.

Line 64-71. Above, you mention that 145 lakes decreased their area over the past 30 years. Here, you focus on the changes in the area of 7 lakes. Why you describe in detail just these lakes?

Line 72-81. Please, describe the aim of the study. Of course, it arises indirectly from the body of this paragraph, but in my opinion the aim should be sketched by the Authors.

Line 113. What meteorological data? Please, specify them.

Line 132-133. '...was basically stable and slightly increased, with a decrease of ...' - So, did they increase or decrease?

Table 1. Please, check units in the upper row, km2/km2 is a very weird unit.

Line 169-176. Please, check carefully this paragraph. This description does not agree with the data in Table 2.

Line 192-196. As you start each sentence with 'stage 1' and 'stage 2', numeration in brackets is not necessary, the more you do not use them in the description of trends in Yinshan Mountains (line 198-199).

Line 133-134. Is this sentence gramatically correct? Shouldn't it be 'increased' instead of 'increasing'?

Discussion. This part is really interesing. However, you present here your analyses of meteorological data; these analyses should be in the Results section. Thus, you should consider to connect them as one section Results and Discussion to avoid such discrepancies.
