Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors:

Thanks a lot for submitting the manuscript. The idea of simplified HMPCC is interesting and novel. Please have my comments:

1)      How will the HMPCC work on a symmetric six-phase (where the phases will be separated by 60 degrees) excitation? As the title of the paper includes six phase motor, the authors should also mention this case also.

2)      In the case of a single-phase or double-phase fault, how will the control mechanism work? Especially, how will the hysteresis bandwidth be set on equation (8)? Please explain.

3)      For the experimental results, please mention the execution time for all four test cases. That will help to show the advantage of HMPCC compared to other control methods.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this work, the authors proposed a low-complexity HMPCC where two distinct controls are combined: HPCC and MPC, which can greatly reduce the computational burden, decrease the current harmonics, and avoid the use of a weighting factor. Below are my comments.

1. Figs. 8, 10, and 11 are of very poor quality. Please provide high-quality figures.

2. The authors must clearly show (maybe in the table) the advantages of HMPPCC with other classical methods. It would be interesting to see the computational cost comparison too.

The manuscript can be reconsidered after the above revisions.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript presents a simplified MPC for 6-phase induction motor based on some well-known techniques such.. However the combination of these methods seems to be unique for this particular application. Therefore the authors should be more clear and better stress the novelty of their work. The following comments are given to further improve the manuscript quality:

1.    Avoid lumping references, e.g. 4-7 and similar. Instead summarize the main contribution of each referenced paper in a separate sentence and/or cite the most recent and/or relevant one.

2.    The authors should more clearly explain why they use hysteresis control to reduce the number of iterations per sampling period and why it turns out to be better than some other methods.

In overall the contribution of the manuscript is quite satisfactory but it still needs a minor revision.
