Reviewer 2 Report

The authors propose “Dynamic Performance Improvement of Solenoid Screw-in Cartridge Valve Using a New Hybrid Voltage Control “Please consider the following comments to improve the originality, quality, and readability of the paper.

Comments:

  1. Please mention the dynamic characteristics of SCV in the abstract section
  2. Does the proposed control strategy make the valve operation faster compared to the existing approaches in the literature?
  3. “Furthermore, a number of scholars both abroad and at home have improved the dynamic performance of HSV by optimizing control strategies without modifying the structure and parameters of the valves” please rewrite this sentence. ‘abroad and at home’ does not fit well.
  4. Line 88, ‘analysis’ should be ‘discussions.’
  5. ‘expensive price’ is mentioned in line 92. Have the authors done cost-benefit analysis of the proposed approach?
  6. “The experimental and simulation results show that the opening and closing times of the SCV are increased by 56.67% (from 30ms to 13ms)” please rewrite. I think it should be ‘decreased’
  7. In the last paragraph of the introduction section, the organization of the paper should be provided.
  8. Several equations need necessary citations. Many terms are not defined for the equations.
  9. What is the Ii in equation 11? It should be reflected in Fig. 4.
  10. Section 3 represents the well-known model. This section should be shortened as much as possible. On the other hand, section 4 is the main control design section which is the main contribution of this work. Unfortunately, there is no mathematical model for the controller. This forces me to doubt the novelty of the controller. Please add more details about the proposed controller.
  11. Coil current driven by normal voltage starts from zero while the coil current driven by hybrid voltage does not start from zero. Please justify with the necessary mathematical model/equations.
  12. There is no x-axis caption for figure 7. Is it time in seconds?
  13. The resolution of Fig. 8 should be improved.
  14. In Fig. 10, there is always steady-state error between the control signal and the measured signals (simulation and experimental)
  15. How the duty ratio varies in Fig. 11?
  16. Please check the x-axis and y-axis values for all the figures.

Overall, this work needs significant improvement. The novelty should be clearly shown. The controller design parts need mathematical formulation.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript " Dynamic Performance Improvement of Solenoid Screw-in Cartridge Valve Using a New Hybrid Voltage Control" is well written and organized. However, the quality of the figures should be improved, such as Figure 7 and Figure 8 for a better understanding.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors have tried to improve the quality of the manuscript by addressing the comments. I still feel that the following aspects can be further improved.

  1. I would like to see the cost comparison or calculation of the proposed approach in tabular form.
  2. The organization of the paper should be provided in the last paragraph of the introduction section.
