Research on the Application of the Dynamic Assisted Sleep Light to Smart Mobile Devices
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The topic of the paper sounds promising; would the use of dynamic light be able to support human sleep? However, the paper from its structure and readability is not entirely clear what exactly has been studied and also what the results may tell us.
Introduction: Not entirely clear what the research question and the aim was of your study - maybe highlight this a bit more in the last paragraph of your introduction section.
The method and results sections need major revisions, there are too many aspects unclear or not thoroughly explained in the text. Please have a look at the detailed comments in the attached document.
In the discussion and conclusion it's important to inform the reader what we can learn from your study and if so how we can apply this in practice.

This manuscript proposed a dynamic sleep-assisting light to assist sleep by controlling the backlight device of the smart mobile device. Some notes could be improved on its manuscript :
In experiments, Equipment Biopac MP-150 is used for EEG and ECG measurement. Are wired electrodes used for measurement during experiments? Because the EEG and ECG signals are also used for sleep quality evaluation, how does the problem uncomfortable due to using wired electrodes take into account for brain wave and HRV analysis?
For brain wave analysis, Figures 20, 21,22,23 and 24, the short description about (%) wave is unclear? What baseline is brain wave defined for analysis?
In Figure 20, 21,22,23, and 24, you mention brain wave is evaluated for about 60 minutes. How can we be sure that subject is sleep during period? please give more description about this
About the dynamic color temperature in Figure 14, its sure that the color temperature changes in duration 60 seconds? What is color temperature change during 60 minutes experiments?
Reference on line 600-604, please re-checking
References published in the last five years need to be added.

- In experiments, Equipment Biopac MP-150 is used for EEG and ECG measurement. Are wired electrodes used for measurement during experiments? Because the EEG and ECG signals are also used for sleep quality evaluation, how does the problem uncomfortable due to using wired electrodes take into account for brain wave and HRV analysis?
Ans.
- In this study, wired electrodes were used for measurement.
- The experimental environments of the subjects in this study were all the same, and the sleep environment equipment was selected to provide more pillows for the subjects to choose, so as to conform to the subjects' daily sleep habits and reduce the discomfort caused by additional equipment.
- For brain wave analysis, Figures 20, 21,22,23 and 24, the short description about (%) wave is unclear?
Ans.
Make up in the chart.
- What baseline is brain wave defined for analysis?
Ans.
Central brain (Cz).
- In Figure 20, 21,22,23, and 24, you mention brain wave is evaluated for about 60 minutes. How can we be sure that subject is sleep during period?
Ans.
In this study, it was temporarily impossible to directly analyze when to enter sleep, but the analysis and discussion were based on the measurement of non-subjective physiological information such as electroencephalogram energy, cardiac rhythm variation and sleep bracelet as well as the sleep questionnaire. In the sleep experiment, the changes of electroencephalogram Delta and Theta and the variation of cardiac rhythm variation were discussed. The statistically significant difference was taken as the gradual entry of sleep as a reference, and it was included in the comprehensive evaluation of sleep latency and sleep efficiency of sleep bracelet. Finally, the analysis and discussion of typing tasks after sleep were conducted.
- About the dynamic color temperature in Figure 14, its sure that the color temperature changes in duration 60 seconds? What is color temperature change during 60 minutes experiments?
Ans.
The dynamic diagram 14 is a cycle every 60 seconds until the end of the experiment.
- References published in the last five years need to be added.
