Assessment of Soil Degradation and Hazards of Some Heavy Metals, Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques in the Northern Part of the Nile Delta, Egypt
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Soil degradation and pollution is one of the main problems threatening the sustainable development of agriculture. This study used remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) techniques to assess the risks of soil degradation and the risks of heavy metals in some soils north of the Nile Delta. It is of great significance to guide the soil degradation and pollution in this area.
Some specific suggestions are as follows:
1. Remote sensing and GIS methods are not involved in the Materials and Methods.
2. The results and discussion part involve too many research methods, which should be reasonably distinguished.

In this work, the authors investigate the use of RS data and GIS to assess the risks of soil degradation by heavy metals in north of the Nile Delta.
The conducted work is of interest. However, this manuscript lacks methodological originality. The used approach is very standard without any improvements. The authors only make an application of what exists in the literature. Moreover, the manuscript is difficult to follow, although it contains useful information.

I think line 263-276, line 314-328, line 344-353 and line 368-380 are methods rather than results. The author decides whether the suggestions are appropriate.
