Diverse Magnetic Properties of Two New Binuclear Complexes Affected by [FeN6] Octahedral Distortion: Two-Step Spin Crossover versus Antiferromagnetic Interactions
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Spin crossover (SCO) complexes exhibit bistable high-spinand low- spin transitions whose characteristics are extremely sensitive to external stimuli, such as temperature, light and pressure. It is expected that due to these unique properties SCO materials are ideal molecular systems for realizing magnetic switches and information-storage elements. Therefore the article is devoted to the physically interesting and practically important field of research. In this work the authors designed and synthesized two binuclear complexes using abpt-TPE as the terminal ligand and bpym as the bridging ligand. The optical and magnetic studies provided interesting results that are very well described and illustrated. In general, this work is important for the further theoretical studies of the mechanisms of SCO and applications. I recommend to publish it in the present form.
