Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

This Special Issue contains extended papers from the sixth International Conference on Advances in Signal Processing and Artificial Intelligence (ASPAI' 2024), 17–19 April 2024, Funchal (Madeira Island), Portugal (https://aspai-conference.com).

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and signal processing are driving the growth of the artificial intelligence market, as improved, appropriate technologies are critical to offering enhanced drones, self-driving cars, robotics, etc. The two major factors enabling market growth are emerging artificial intelligence technologies and growth in intelligent signal processing. Today, more and more sensor manufacturers are applying machine learning to sensors and signal data for analyses. It is becoming easier than ever: hardware is becoming smaller and sensors are getting cheaper, making Internet of Things devices widely available for a variety of applications ranging from predictive maintenance to user behavior monitoring. However, the increased number of sensors in devices will inherently generate higher data throughput, which poses a serious challenge in managing and processing the tremendous amount of sensory information. Furthermore, traditional processing techniques in conventional sensing devices are no longer suitable for systematically labeling, processing, and analyzing the exuberant amount of information.

The artificial intelligence market’s size was USD 428.00 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow from USD 515.31 billion in 2023 to USD 2,025.12 billion by 2030, exhibiting a CAGR of 21.6 %.

The growth of the global AI market is driven by the increasing adoption of cloud-based applications and services, growing big data, increasing demand for intelligent virtual assistants, and advances in signal processing. A major limiting factor in AI reaching its full business potential is the availability of individuals with the right skills and capabilities to continue innovating.

A series of ASPAI conferences have been launched to fill this gap and provide a forum for open discussion and development of emerging artificial intelligence and appropriate signal processing technologies focused on real-word implementations by offering hardware, software, services, and technology (e.g., machine learning, deep learning natural language processing, context-aware computing, computer vision, and signal processing). The goal of the conference is to provide an interactive environment for establishing collaborations, exchanging ideas, and facilitating discussions between researchers, manufacturers, and users.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Algorithms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
