The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the journal, Current Oncology, an international, scientific, peer-reviewed, open access journal published bi-monthly. The Canadian Association of Medical Oncologists and its members value its ongoing relationship with Current Oncology and we applaud them on their ongoing success. I am a post-doctoral researcher and senior nuclear medicine specialist at the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy, Division of Nuclear Medicine, Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria. My experience as a Guest/Collection Editor for the topic "New Insights into Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment" for the medical journal Current Oncology, which started in Summer 2021, has been very positive.

Working with and supporting a diverse team of experts, I have contributed to the publication of high-quality research that advances medical knowledge. This role has not only improved my skills in manuscript assessment, review management and editorial decision making, but has also promoted a sense of teamwork and cohesion and opened up new opportunities for growth and advancement in my career.

From fruitful collaboration to high-impact publications, every aspect of this experience has left a powerful impression on me. So far, we have been able to publish 17 interesting articles on this collective topic, which have already been cited more than 60 times.

I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute significantly to the field and to be a part of this prestigious journal. I look forward to continuing my contributions and journey towards the progress of medical knowledge and practice in the years to come.

I am delighted to congratulate Current Oncology on the journal’s 30 Year Anniversary!  Born in Canada, Current Oncology has played an important role in disseminating evidence that has informed and improved the practice of clinical oncology.  I am especially grateful for the honour of having served as Editor-in-Chief for Current Oncology and proud of its continued growth and expanding impact across the world.

Current Oncology provides a user-friendly submission platform and an accessible editorial team that responds to communications in a timely way. The review process is streamlined with comments provided in a reasonable time frame. Once the manuscript is accepted, publication is incredibly fast, with proof provided within hours and the article published online almost immediately thereafter. I also appreciated the ways in which Current Oncology suggests strategies to increase the exposure of the article through social media and other platforms. Overall, Current Oncology provides a great publishing experience.

Congratulations on the 30th Anniversary. It is a remarkable achievement to reach this milestone and to have contributed leadership to the specialty of oncology. Current Oncology has served as a unique publication in the field, embracing all disciplines and relevant research methods. Its growth and "staying power" is a testament to the relevance and contribution to oncology. The efforts to maintain high quality in this publication are commendable and a reason to be proud of the product!!

Publishing our work, "Soft Tissue Masses of the Hand: A Review of Clinical Presentation and Imaging Features" in Current Oncology allows us to reach a wide international audience. The peer review process was conducted in a timely manner, with responsive editorial support throughout the publication process. I look forward to working with the journal on future submissions.
