Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains a leading cause of cancer death globally, with less than 10% 5-year survival rates. Due to the aggressive nature of the disease, only 15% of all patients are candidates for surgery at the time of diagnosis, while 50% have evidence of metastatic disease, and in about 35% the cancer is found to be locally advanced. Recent advances in systemic treatment, technology and surgical techniques have somewhat improved the oncological outcomes. Therefore, accurate early diagnosis and staging are important for the institution of the appropriate management that would yield the best results. In this Special Issue, we will discuss some of these diagnostic dilemmas and controversies, provide current evidence and set potential goals for future research.
