Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid advances in Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) offer fertile ground for the integration of multimodal analysis to significantly elevate the user experience. The aim of this Special Issue is aims to explore the synergy between VR/AR technologies, multimodal user analysis, and experimental design.
The objective is to shed light on the emerging intersections between VR/AR technologies, emotional analysis through multimodal sensors, and the subsequent impact on user experience design. The integration of these components presents an interdisciplinary platform that extends beyond human-computer interaction, delving into emotional design, neuroscience, affective computing, and artificial intelligence.
For this Special Issue, scholars, researchers, and practitioners are invited to contribute to this expanding area of study. We welcome contributions in the form of original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and empirical studies aimed at exploring the intersections between VR/AR, multimodal analysis, and user experience design, that addresses both the technological and affective dimensions of immersive experiences. Authors are invited to consider submissions including, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Advances in VR/AR technologies for emotionally responsive user experiences
- Integration of multimodal sensors for user analysis within immersive environments
- Contributions to neuroscience through immersive technologies
- Affective computing algorithms tailored for VR/AR applications
- Usability and user experience assessments of adaptive VR/AR systems
- Interdisciplinary approaches to emotionally intelligent user interface design
- Evaluative metrics for user engagement in immersive experiences
- Machine learning techniques for user experience analysis in VR/AR settings
Through collective expertise, we aim to contribute to the current state of the art of human experience within technologically and responsive immersive spaces. Additionally, we welcome exploratory studies that deepen our understanding of how emotional data can be synergistically integrated within VR/AR platforms to enhance user engagement and experience.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
