9–10 April 2025 Workshop on Electrical Machines Design, Control and Diagnosis (WEMDCD) Conference 2025

Valletta, Malta

The 7th edition of IEEE Workshop on Electrical Machine Design, Control and Diagnostics (WEMDCD) will be held at Valletta, Malta, between 9 and 10 April 2025, having been organized in collaboration between the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Malta and the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari” (DIEF) of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

WEMDCD is an international event sponsored by the IEEE-IES Industrial Electronics Society and co-sponsored by the IEEE-IAS Industry Applications Society. WEMDCD is an internationally recognised workshop in the field of electrical machine design, control and diagnosis, where original research and up-to-date industrial applications are presented. Considering the ongoing electrical revolution in transportation, the 2025 WEMDCD 7th edition will bring cutting-edge technology into the world of automotive, aviation and naval industries, facilitating exchanges between academia and industrial partners.

A tourist hotspot since the late 1970s, the Maltese Islands are currently one of the best-known locations for summer-related holidays worldwide. Malta’s location in the centre of the Mediterranean has historically given it great strategic importance as a naval base. As such, it offers exciting activities for a range of people, from history buffs and art aficionados to culture enthusiasts. Its maritime activities have always kept Malta in line with technological advancements, and in recent years, it has witnessed a huge, concentrated investment in technological development, IT systems, and most importantly, the electrification of transport. Electrification systems, such as electrical machines, drives and associated technology, have consequently garnered much interest. Hosting WEMDCD’2025 here thus falls perfectly within this growing activity in the country and at the University of Malta. This conference offers excellent opportunities to meet experts in this research field and make new connections.

15–18 June 2025 EVS38—The International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exposition

Gothenburg, Sweden

What does it mean to be part of the world of electromobility? For one, there is a dynamic market, for another, there is a new sense of urgency for increased sustainability, and lastly, there is a challenging legislative environment. As members of this ever-changing sector, we have truly grasped the concept of being the driving force for meaningful change. We stand for transformation, decarbonization, and innovation—a pole position we can be proud of.

Attracting global industry leaders, showcasing the latest technologies and infrastructure solutions, hosting high-level discussions, and providing a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing, EVS also promotes research while raising public awareness of and education on the role of EVs in sustainable goals.

After an immensely successful event in Oslo for EVS35, we now head to another country that highlights EV advancement: Sweden. And what better place to organize our home event than the domestic automotive hotspot—Gothenburg?

In June 2025, the Nordic city will host EVS38, and we invite researchers and academics to submit their abstracts for the symposium's scientific program. With its strong foundation in academia, EVS places significant emphasis on research, making it a key part of the event. More than 11,000 participants, including industry leaders, policymakers, and EV users, are expected to attend. Over four days, attendees will engage in discussions, network, and explore new opportunities to advance electromobility.

Help shape the future of our sector by submitting your abstract:
