Dear Colleagues,
The present issue focuses on application of combustion to propulsion of ground and marine vehicles. Major emphasis is on Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), both with intermittent combustion (Spark Ignition (SI) and Compression Ignition (CI) Engines), and continuous combustion (gas turbines). Papers are sought on recent combustion technology developments with major application areas in propulsion of cars, ships and trains. Combustion issues that may be covered include (but not limited to): turbulent combustion (in particular, premixed and partially- premixed modes), ignition and autoignition, application of fundamental combustion knowledge to emission reduction, combustion control and optimization (e.g. lean burn, hydrogen-enhanced lean burn and other techniques). Combustion diagnostics in ICE is notoriously difficult, and studies reporting innovative techniques in this area are especially welcome. Theoretical and computational contributions may treat fundamentals of turbulent combustion and CFD modelling of combustion process in ICE. There is a good range of fluid dynamics problems which are also of great interest: fuel injection and atomization, swirl and tumble flows and their interaction with combustion, and others. Progress in introduction of novel fuels, such as emulsified fuels, biofuels and hydrogen will also be covered. Both original and review papers may be submitted for consideration.
