Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Games is dedicated to game theoretic modeling of conflict and communication in the context of political economy applications. We invite theoretical and experimental contributions that advance our understanding of political phenomena that rely on such modeling. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Models of debate and rhetoric;
  • Informational electoral campaigning;
  • Communication and negotiation in the shadow of conflict.

We also encourage submissions that contribute to developing modeling technologies for soft and hard information games, disclosure games, wars of attrition, and conflict success function technologies.

Society and Conference Recommendations:

In our efforts to broaden our network and enhance the development of our Special Issue, we aspire to collaborate with societies or academic conferences that align with the topic of game theory. Such a partnership would serve as a platform for wider academic recognition of our Special Issue. Our journal is more than willing to provide sponsorships supporting the cooperation. Please provide us with pertinent details about any society or conference you might suggest, as listed below:

Conference/Society name: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Society

The concept of the Condorcet winner has become central to most electoral models in the political economy literature. A Condorcet winner is the alternative preferred by a plurality in every pairwise competition; the notion of a k-winner generalizes that of a Condorcet winner. The k-winner is the unique alternative top-ranked by the plurality in every competition comprising exactly k alternatives (including itself). This study uses a spatial voting setting to characterize this theoretical concept, showing that if a k-winner exists for some k>2, then the same alternative must be the k-winner for every k>k. We derive additional results, including sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence of a k-winner for some k>2. Full article
