Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Greenhouse gases and other pollutant emissions caused by energy consumption have posed a severe threat to environmental sustainability and human survival. Therefore, clean, renewable, and sustainable energy is greatly required daily to improve social, economic, and environmental health, leading to economic development and productivity. Moreover, in order to achieve the global carbon neutrality target, a green and low-carbon energy strategy must be promoted. Replacing fossil fuel sources with non-fossil-fuel sources is a rather challenging task. Maintaining the balance between crucial aspects such as non-polluting or very low-polluting energy sources and energy efficiency is critical to achieve steady energy supplies and an excellent ecological environment.
This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and the public to obtain advanced academic achievements in energy conservation, emission reduction, environmental sustainability, and low-carbon development. We encourage the implementation of research on green energy strategies at macro and micro levels from a theoretical or practical perspective, and we look forward to your valuable insights into energy transformation, green technology innovation, and low-carbon development. Topics of interest for this article collection include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Energy transition and low-carbon development;
- Low-carbon technological innovation and application;
- Green transformation and upgrading of industries;
- Carbon neutrality and emission peaking;
- Technological innovation and advancement in energy and environmental efficiency;
- Sustainable energy supply and consumption;
- The nexus between economic development and energy technological innovation to improve environmental sustainability;
- Green finance and carbon trading;
- Digital transition towards carbon neutrality;
- Energy poverty and energy equity;
- Energy conservation and carbon reduction policy;
- The synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction;
- The economic and social cost of energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2500 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
