Dear Colleagues,
Conventional materials such as polymer films (Polystyrene, methacrylate, etc.), porous polymeric membranes (cellulose, nylon, etc.), sol-gels, etc., have long been used in sensor fabrication. However, these conventional materials alone have major limitations in solving current challenges in the field of sensors and biosensors. In recent years, it has been shown that the combination of nanomaterials such as metal colloidal nanoparticles, polymeric luminescent nanoparticles, core–shell magnetic nanoparticles, perovskite colloidal nanocrystals, carbon dots, quantum dots, etc., and sophisticated nanostructured materials such as luminescent metal–organic frameworks, organic and inorganic nonwoven nanofiber membranes, nanostructured composite materials, conducting polymers, imprinted polymers, dendrimers, etc., is a powerful tool for designing and fabricating innovative nanostructured materials with the right properties to solve current challenges in the fields of sensors and biosensors.
This Special Issue of the journal Nanomaterials collects original research and review articles on the design of nanostructured functional materials and their application in the fabrication of sensors and biosensors.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
