11–13 August 2025, Tsukuba, Japan
17th International Conference on the Physics of Non-Crystalline Solids (PNCS17)
Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to welcome you all to the 17th International Conference on the Physics of Non-Crystalline Solids (PNCS17), to be held in Tsukuba, Japan, August 11–13, 2025. From the first conference at Alfred University (in 1958), this conference has been an international forum for the discussion of the most recent achievements in the study of the physics of non-crystalline solid materials. This is the second time that the conference will be held in Japan, after 1987 (PNCS6 in Kyoto, organized by Prof. S. Sakka).
Glasses are an important class of materials in our daily life and their fundamental properties are among the unsolved problems in physics. This conference will host many glass scientists from industrial and academic institutes alike, coming from various countries. The main topics of the conference will be glass transition, relaxation in glasses, structure–property relationships, and glasses and liquids under high pressure and high temperature. We will also focus on functional materials, measurement techniques, and theoretical as well as mathematical approaches. Two special and thirteen conventional sessions will be organized, in addition to a plenary session.
Welcome to Tsukuba! We hope that all participants will be welcomed with our traditional Japanese "Omotenashi" (hospitality). We also hope you will enjoy both high-quality presentations and Japanese culture during your stay.
