Anthropogenic activities related to production and consumption have significantly contributed to weakening the fragile balance of the sustainable real estate economy. Among the main critical issues are the subordination of public decision-making processes to the pressures exerted by large corporations, the inefficiency of evaluation procedures, the excessive use of financial leverage in investment projects, the atypical nature of real estate markets, the rents tied to urban transformations, and the growing financialization of the sector. In this complex scenario, a key role is played by the valuation activities of assets and projects, which are called upon to consider the increasing importance of sustainable development and transformation issues. In recent decades, moreover, the overestimation of demographic growth has highlighted the need to rethink urban planning processes, limiting the expansion of built areas, safeguarding the identity of places with high environmental and cultural value, and counteracting the indiscriminate use of land while promoting the enhancement and recovery of existing building stock.
Within this framework, the Conference aims to provide a space for reflection and debate on the dissemination of knowledge and innovations related to the most advanced real estate valuation methodologies, applied in the fields of architecture, civil, building, and environmental engineering, as well as the current tools to guide decision-making processes in sustainable urban planning.
Particular attention is paid to aspects of urban regeneration, the enhancement of local identity, and sustainability, which is understood as a central paradigm for territorial transformations and urban design, in order to mitigate their impact on the environment. Additionally, topics such as the recovery and/or replacement of existing building stock in degraded and abandoned areas, as well as in those that have surpassed critical vulnerability thresholds, are considered crucial issues. The relevance and importance of these topics are confirmed by the principles set forth in the 2030 Agenda, which promote greater social inclusion within cities, to be redesigned with a long-term vision, compatible with the environment, and aimed at creating sustainable urban spaces.
