Online
Dear scientists, researchers, and authors,
We are pleased to announce that the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Microbiology (ECM 2025) is back. The conference is organized by the MDPI journal Microorganisms (ISSN: 2076-2607; Impact Factor: 4.1) and will take place online on 1–3 April 2025 (Central European Time).
ECM 2025 invites researchers from academia, as well as microbiology practitioners, to contribute original findings, novel ideas, scientific concepts, new technologies, and experiences to address diversity in various fields. The conference will focus on fostering discussions related to health and disease, food safety and bioprocesses, with a special emphasis on microbiology. We encourage submissions that cover the following topics:
- S1. Gut Microbiota and Health Disease;
- S2. Foodborne Pathogens and Food Safety;
- S3. Antimicrobial Agents and Resistance;
- S4. Emerging Infectious Diseases;
- S5. Microbiome and Soil Science;
- S6. Microbial Characterization and Bioprocesses;
- S7. Microbe–Plant Interactions.
Important Dates
- Deadline for Abstract Submission: 3rd December 2024;
- Abstract Acceptance Notification: 6th January 2025;
- Registration Deadline: 3rd March 2025.

Prague, Czech Republic
Welcome to the 13th International Retroviral Symposium in Prague, Czech Republic!
We are delighted to host this year’s symposium in the historic and culturally rich city of Prague, one of Europe’s most scenic destinations. With its stunning architecture, vibrant atmosphere, and long tradition of scientific excellence, Prague provides an inspiring backdrop for academic exchange and personal exploration.
Our goal is to bring together researchers from diverse scientific fields to deepen our understanding of the biochemical, biophysical, and virological mechanisms that govern the retroviral life cycle. The complex nature of these viral processes requires a multidisciplinary approach, and we are excited to create a collaborative platform where experts can share insights and push the boundaries of retrovirology research.
This year’s symposium will focus on critical aspects of retroviral assembly, maturation, and uncoating, with participants from disciplines such as virology, biochemistry, high-resolution microscopy, and biophysics. Our discussions aim to advance the fight against HIV-1/AIDS and other retroviral diseases through innovative research and new therapeutic strategies.
Key discussion topics will include the following:
- Envelope Incorporation, Structure, and Function;
- HIV-1 RNA Nuclear Trafficking, Packaging, and Translation;
- Virus Assembly and Morphogenesis;
- Novel Therapeutic Strategies;
- Capsid Trafficking, Uncoating, and Integration;
- Capsid Protein Structure and Function;
- Maturation and Viral Particle Release;
- The Role of Host Factors in Viral Replication.
This symposium is a unique opportunity for scientists at all levels—from principal investigators and research scientists to postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and biotechnology professionals—to come together and advance the scientific progress needed to combat retroviral diseases.
