Enhanced Mechanical Performance of a Biodegradable Fe–Mn Alloy Manufactured by Metal Injection Molding and Minor Carbon Addition
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The idea of the article is interesting, and the authors' approach is correct. Prior to publication in the Metals Journal, several issues should be addressed.
- The article should be carefully revised in terms of phraseology and missing terms to avoid confusion. Overall, the text can be improved.
- For better observation of morphological details, the images should be larger. Also, the textual indications in some figures must be adjusted so that they have the same size as the text in the article.
- I think it should be explained in a little more detail what were the reasons for choosing the sintering parameters used and the environment in which the experiment took place.
- Details of instrument manufacturers (XRD, SEM…) and their models (EDS?) should be checked.
- In TEM images, the contrast and brightness should be adjusted, and the measuring bars modified so that they become legible.
- For a correct comparison of the three alloys and to confirm the effect of carbon addition, SAED results should be presented for all samples.
- The conclusions could be better presented, to be representative for the whole article.

Reviewer 2 Report
Very interesting research, quite clearly presented.
Please note a few things:
- The introduction focuses heavily on MIM with little attention being paid to biodegradability. On lines 37-39, only additives for this type of alloy are mentioned.
- The quality of the graphite photo in Figure 1b is poor.
- It should be noted that graphite is also an oxygen-reducing agent, so its final proportion is not 0.5.
- Whether the estimated manganese loss is estimated, it is difficult to assume that its share is stable at such a high vapor pressure.
Best regards
