Research on the Resistance Reduction Law of Self-Excited a Resonant Circular Arc-Surface Bulldozing Plate Based on the Discrete Element Method
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The paper reduces soil cutting resistance through optimizing the spectra of soil cutting surface vibration using self-excited vibration modes. The addition of serrated edges on the push plate to generate vibrations increases soil disturbance which facilitates slicing. While this study has merit, there are some limitations:
1.There are many typos in the English abstract that should be corrected. The language throughout can be more concise, avoiding unnecessary repetitions.
2.More analysis is needed in the introduction on the application value and significance of self-excited vibration technology in soil cutting processes, to strengthen the theoretical basis. In the comparative analysis section, add discussions on the displacement patterns of soil particles at different depths and positions for more comprehensive analysis.
3.The experimental section with tank tests and DEM simulations is quite solid, verifying the resistance reduction of the self-excited arc-shaped push plate. However, the theoretical analysis is somewhat lacking, without sufficiently delving into the mechanism behind self-excited vibrations. More rigorous theoretical analysis is needed on the soil fragmentation mechanics under resonant self-excited vibrations to better describe the vibration mechanisms.
4.The paper mentions using hammer impact pulses to test the natural frequencies of the soil, but does not provide details on the test apparatus parameters and signal processing methods. Providing these details would aid reproducibility of the results. Detailed test protocols are recommended.
5.In the simulations and tank tests, the soil distribution is uniform. In reality, soils can be aggregated, piled up and dispersed. In the push process, this leads to non-uniform resistance distribution perpendicular to the push plate. More discussion is needed on whether plate geometry and vibrations negatively impact resistance reduction under such non-uniform conditions.
6.The conclusion section is overly simplistic, summarizing just three main results. It is advised to expand the conclusion with a more comprehensive summary of the innovations, significance and impacts of the research, as well as perspectives on future research directions.
7.The formatting and labeling of figures and tables can be further improved for clearer information delivery. Some formula derivations lack details and would benefit from showing the derivation steps. The formatting of the references needs standardization.

1、2.1 Not every variable has an explanation
2、It is challenging to know which are the experimental results and which are the simulation results, and there is no specific data reflected in the comparison between the experiment and simulation
3、Introduction: The literature review is not detailed. It is currently unclear what achievements have been made and the current technological status. From the last paragraph, it is not entirely clear what has been done in the following sections.
4、2.5 The particle sizes used in the experiment and simulation are not the same, and there is no specific parameter calibration, which is very confusing
5、3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.2.3 did not fully explain how the mentioned results are interrelated
6、The topic is research on the law of resistance reduction, but most of the results are microscopic analyses of particles
The sentence should be concise and clear, and the grammar should be further improved
