Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. The research background did not clearly indicate the current research status and existing problems.

2. This study involves high-density, small-scale sampling, and the research methods used are also relatively common. What are the similarities and differences between this study and existing related studies? Additionally, what is the promotional value of this study?

3. The conclusion suggests further refinement.

4. Tables 3 and 4 should be remade.

Reviewer 3 Report

The content of soil nitrogen in agricultural soil is lower than general soil for crop cultivation and management practices. Soil enzymes, playing a key role in the validity and storage of soil N/P nutrients, can be formation by Plant and soil physico-chemical parameters. In this study, Agnieszka Wolna-Maruwka and colleagues performed interesting experiments to explain the “Spatial-temporal differentiation of soil biochemical parameters and its relationship with nitrogen resources during the vegetation period of selected crops”. This mechanism is worth studying because it can help us better understand the role of soil enzymatic activity in soil nitrogen resources storage, especially its relationship crop yield.

Yet the Ms was complicated and there are still lots of parts which are not clear, and need to be rephrased.

 1. In the Abstract, a clear scientific question (knowledge gap) should be proposed. As it document of soil enzymatic activity and its relationship with nitrogen resources studied, which is the Innovation?

2. In the Introduction section, the author should briefly state the relationship between two factors (pH and moisture), so that the readers can better understand the reasons for choosing these two factors.

3. In the result section, the content is quite chaotic, please highlights the key point, especially the enzymatic activity data is missing. Otherwise, the effect of plant root exudates on enzyme activity, which was discussed in the next section, but the results were not shown here.

4. In the discussion section, I suggest removing subheadings in this section. The discussion should link all of your findings. This section should not be divided into so many subsections and each paragraph should be well structured and interconnected (“telling a story”). In addition, it is not necessary to reference figures and tables in this section.

5. The conclusions section was too long, and should not be a summary of your study or an extension of the discussion. This section should illustrate the mechanistic links of findings obtained under applied terms.

The English of the manuscript should be improved.

Round 2

Reviewer 3 Report

After revision, the manuscript entitled ‘Spatial-temporal differentiation of soil biochemical parameters and its relationship with nitrogen resources during the vegetation period of selected crops’, is clearer and the quality is really improved. I suggest accept this manuscript after minor revision. For example, the discussion section, was still too cumbersome and need to be condensed.
