Reviewer 2 Report

The subject of the manuscript is very urgent. Obtained results are important for development of combustion theory and for prediction on combustion and emission characteristics of diesel engines. The manuscript is good structured. Discussion of numerical simulation results is comprehensive. The quality of the manuscript in whole is enough for its publication in Processes.

There are following recommendations:

  1. It is not clear from the text of the manuscript. When describing the processes of fuel oxidation, it was used separately the kinetic characteristics of diesel fuel and separately the kinetic characteristics of methane? Or five different kinetic characteristics were used for different fuel mixtures?
  2. What are the limitations of using the developed mathematical model for predicting characteristics (fuel components, concentration of components, type of fuel, process characteristics)?
