Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
It is of utmost importance to apply proper nutritional and management strategies during the early stages of calf life to ensure optimal growth, immune functionality, and overall health and welfare. This will reduce calf morbidity and mortality and significantly impact the long-term productivity and sustainability of the farm operation. The approaches include, but are not limited to, colostrum management, using nutraceuticals and phytogenic compounds to enhance immune function and prevent the most prevalent calf diseases, most notably neonatal diarrhea, and promoting growth and rumen development in pre-ruminant calves. Scientists in the field are invited to contribute original research and review papers that delve into innovative approaches and provide valuable insights. This Special Issue is dedicated to presenting cutting-edge information and identifying potential avenues for future research in the field of newborn calf feeding and management.
