Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Pain is the most prevalent symptom of all and also accounts for up to 80% of the causes of access to our healthcare facilities through the emergency department. From this perspective, the field of pain should be one of the greatest challenges for healthcare providers. Among the different types of pain, craniofacial pain and headaches have proven to be highly disabling and involve very high healthcare costs.
In recent decades, the approach to both pain assessment and treatment has undergone significant changes and advances. Key to these advances has been the development of new neurophysiological models that aim to explain how pain works and how it impacts from a biopsychosocial point of view.
Specifically, this Special Issue aims to bring together new research in the field of craniofacial pain and headaches. This Special Issue welcomes original articles and reviews focused on the pathophysiological (or physiological, or neurophysiological) mechanisms of Craniofacial Pain and Headaches.
