Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite original researches or review articles to a Special Issue of the journal Energies on the topic of “Next Generation of Electric Vehicles and Railway Transit.”
In the last decades, the world has been subjected to an unprecedented urbanization in developing countries and secure urbanization for many cities of the already developed countries. This growth has been followed by a considerable expansion of the global mobility system’s demand for transportation fuels, which represents 27% of the global energy final consumption. The effect of the vast worldwide expansion and urbanization will make this trend to continue with a substantial impact on the urban areas that will be affected by noise, air pollution, and congestion. The global situation will get even more critical because the evidence suggests that the population of the developing countries will tend to favor private motorized vehicles because of its flexible and reliable form of travel, increasing the global stock of vehicles.
In order to prevent and contain the environmental problems resulting from the expansion of the transport sector, the most feasible solutions concern the increase in the use of the public transport in the urbanized areas, the neglection of the older models of vehicles in favor of the more efficient new ones and the increase in the adoption of electric vehicles and the use of a different fleet they are studying alternatives with electric trains powered by batteries or hydrogen fuel cells solutions.
This session is dedicated to introducing, reviewing, and exploring new technologies (infrastructures or vehicles) applied in different transport sectors (railway, urban line, subway, etc.) and their possible integration.
Topics of interest of this special session include, but are not limited to:
- Decarbonization railway line;
- E-Highway;
- Urban Line;
- Intelligent transportation management systems
- Innovative charging systems;
- G2V and V2G and concepts;
- Integrating EV with Storage and Grids
- Renewable Distributed Energy Resource for E-mobilities

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
