Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Endocrine diseases affect the body's endocrine system, a network of glands that produce hormones. These hormones regulate various body functions such as metabolism, growth and development, mood, reproduction, and more. Some common endocrine disorders are Diabetes Mellitus, Cushing's Syndrome, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Thyroid Nodules and Thyroid Cancer among others. On the other hand, the World Health Organization estimates that medicinal plants meet the health needs of about 80 percent of the world’s population, especially for millions of people in the vast rural areas of developing countries. Therefore, it is a fact that millions of people use medicinal plants to treat endocrine and metabolic conditions.

In this special issue authors are encouraged to submit their works related to the pharmacological activity of plant extracts and/or their active ingredients over the endocrine system. Because some endocrine diseases are not recognized by traditional systems, the study must be founded from a traditional or a prospective point of view.
