Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Plants focuses on recent advancements in plant genetics and breeding through QTL mapping and marker-assisted selection (MAS). These powerful tools identify and utilize genetic markers linked to desirable traits, accelerating breeding and enhancing crop performance. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have transformed QTL mapping by providing high-resolution genetic maps and enabling the discovery of numerous genetic variants.

We welcome original research, reviews, and case studies exploring various aspects of QTL mapping and MAS. We encourage submissions on:

  • Novel methodologies for QTL identification;
  • Innovative MAS approaches;
  • Application of these techniques to diverse plant species;
  • Studies integrating genomics, transcriptomics, and phenomics data for improved QTL mapping and MAS precision;
  • Studies that leverage NGS for QTL mapping, highlighting advancements in sequencing technologies, data analysis pipelines, and their application in identifying QTLs for complex traits.

  • Development and validation of novel genetic markers;
  • Integrating high-throughput sequencing into QTL mapping;
  • Applying MAS in breeding programs for disease resistance, stress tolerance, and yield improvement;

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Plants is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
