The authors need to address these comments before any publication:

  1. Improve the quality of all of the figures
  2. Extensive English editing of the text, and correcting the syntax errors
  3. Add at least 2 master tables in order to compare the results
  4. Add statistical analysis to all of the numerical results

Reviewer 3 Report

Authors have presented an article entitled “Experimental investigation on mechanical induced damages during the Milling test of graphene/carbon incorporated polymer nanocomposite” Though the manuscript is well written and organized but there is scope for further improving the quality of the draft before considering for publication.

Detail minor comments are listed below:

  1. In Abstract, author used Graphene oxide and short for is denoted by (G). It should be GO. Please rectify it.
  2. As the author mentioned, various carbon based nanomaterials such as graphene etc. have been used to enhance different characteristics of polymer composites. Author should send the performance of these articles to make the contrast: ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces 12 (15), 17988-18001 (2020); Fibers and Polymers 20 (6), 1161-1171 (2019).
  3. Figure 2 needs to be modified. The numbering like (a), (b) should be pointed on the each figure and description is written as Figure caption such as “Figure 2. Experimentation setup (a) Machining setup, (b) Cutting force measurement….”
  4. The scale bar in FESEM micrographs (Figure 8) need to be bold. It is not visible in the present form.
  5. In page 8, line 274 author mentioned that “high cutting speed leads to higher breakage, pullout, serious cavity formation, and brittles fracture resulting in poor surface finish. This is because the resin is softened with increased cutting temperature, higher feed, and nanomaterials agglomeration.”

-How the agglomeration is controlled for the prepared composites? Please elaborate.

  1. In Figure 8 and Figure 10, author used 1 wt%, 2 wt% and 3 wt% of what? Please mention.
  2. Authors have nicely presented the experimental part and results and discussion. They should also check the typos and grammatical mistakes in the revised version.

Summary:

Present article investigates the machining of epoxy reinforced with graphene/carbon incorporated polymer nanocomposite.

Comments:

  • Title of the article should include type of polymer used too. The challenges of machining are different for variety of polymeric composite.
  • If there is no specific journal requirement, the introduction should be numbered as 1.
  • Light language editing is required in introduction section.
  • Author should present quantified values from research report rather than generic outcomes.
  • In introduction section, author should move reports of machining to separate paragraph.
  • Similarly, motivation and incites on present article should be moved into separate paragraph too.
  • Experimental work: Author should share all brand names and detailed specification of the materials used in experiment.
  • Figure 8: images quality need to be improved.
