Special Issue Information
Feed represents around 65% of the total cost of chicken meat production. Improving the precision in nutrition and feeding will ensure that the poultry industry delivers affordable products to feed the increasing world population. Precision nutrition has become more critical in recent years due to amino acid and micronutrient shortages as well as the rising price of feed ingredients. Precision in feeding and nutrition also plays a vital role in improving production efficiency, nutrient utilization, animal health and well-being, and reducing the burden on environmental pollution. To explore strategies for improving precision in feeding and nutrition in poultry, we encourage scientists to submit research or review articles to this Special Issue, on topics including but not limited to:
- Nutrient requirements under challenge conditions, including disease challenges, gut health challenges, environmental stresses, etc.
- Role of amino acids composition in feed on performance and gut health in poultry.
- Advances in improving nutrient utilization.
- Technologies in improving precision in feed manufacturing.
- Interactions of nutrients and feed additives.
- Strategies in improving precision in diet formulation and feeding.
- Reducing the errors in nutrition-related research models.
- Feeding strategies during poultry production.
- Reduction of emission in the environment via precision nutrition in poultry.
- Precision feeding in birds raised in cage-free systems.
- Biomarkers for feed efficiency evaluation and performance prediction.
- Impact of feed quality and particle size on nutrient utilization.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
