Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, titled "Advances in Gastrointestinal Cancer Research: A Molecular and Biological Perspective”, aims to assemble a comprehensive collection of research articles that showcase groundbreaking advancements in the detection, understanding, and treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. Through a lens that deeply focuses on molecular biology and its interplay with clinical practices, this Special Issue offers insights into the complex biological mechanisms driving GI cancers, innovative diagnostic techniques, and novel therapeutic strategies. A portion of this Special Issue will be dedicated towards outlining the latest in diagnostic advancements. Here, contributors would explore noninvasive biomarkers, cutting-edge imaging techniques, and the integration of artificial intelligence to enhance the early detection and accurate staging of GI cancers. The significance of liquid biopsies in capturing the heterogeneity of tumors and monitoring treatment responses is also highlighted, marking a shift towards more personalized and less invasive monitoring approaches. This Special Issue also aims to delve into the critical role that the tumor microenvironment plays, as well as the biological interfaces that influence cancer progression and response to treatment. Investigations into the interactions between cancer cells and their microenvironment pave the way for therapies that disrupt these interactions or modify the microenvironment to inhibit cancer growth.
This Special Issue will serve as a testament to the vibrant and rapidly evolving field of GI cancer research, offering valuable insights and promising directions for scientists, clinicians, and patients alike.
