Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global demand for energy-efficient solutions is ever-growing as the world faces the challenges of energy conservation and environmental sustainability. This Special Issue focuses on the application of Internet of Things (IoT) systems and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) as transformative tools to enhance energy efficiency across multiple domains, including residential and commercial buildings, industrial facilities, smart grids, agriculture and livestock farming, and smart cities. We aim to showcase the latest advancements in technology that integrate seamlessly into everyday environments and contribute to managing and reducing the consumption of electricity, fossil fuels, and other energy sources. By harnessing the capabilities of the IoT and WSNs, this Special Issue seeks to highlight innovative strategies that optimize energy usage, integrate renewable energy sources, and improve overall operational efficiency. We welcome contributions that explore and advance the field of energy conservation through cutting-edge research, novel methodologies and algorithms, smart sensors and devices, real-world testbeds and case studies, and comprehensive reviews. The topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Energy management systems for smart environments;
- Energy consumption optimization using WSNs and the IoT;
- Integration of renewable energy sources with IoT technologies;
- Data analytics and machine learning for energy efficiency in smart environments;
- IoT frameworks for energy management and conservation across different environments;
- Implementations of sensor networks for real-time energy monitoring and control;
- Innovative case studies on the IoT's impact on reducing carbon footprints;
- Green IoT strategies and applications.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
