Exercise and Health-Related Quality of Life

A section of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (ISSN 1660-4601).

Section Information

The section “Exercise and Health-Related Quality of Life” within the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH) is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge on the intersection of exercise, physical activity, sport or sedentarism (as environment-related human behavior), and quality of life with a primary focus on health promotion and disease prevention. This section aims to bridge the gap between disciplines, fostering a transdisciplinary approach that integrates biological, social, environmental, and behavioral determinants of health. The primary objectives of this section are to 1) explore the intricate relationship between exercise and health-related quality of life; 2) determine how environmental factors, both natural and built, influence the acute responses or chronic adaptations of various physiological systems to exercise, the effectiveness of exercise interventions, and, finally, how these factors contribute to an individual’s overall quality of life; 3) understand the impact of socio-cultural factors on exercise from a health perspective; and 4) assess the benefits of exercise on human health. We welcome original articles, reviews and meta-analyses, and short communications from innovative research on all significant aspects of exercise, health promotion, environment, and quality of life. We encourage submissions that delve into the multifaceted aspects of how various forms of physical activity (e.g., occupational physical activity and sports) impact not only physical or physiological health but also mental, emotional, and social well-being.
