Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid progress of digital transformation, accelerated even further by the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to new corporate innovations, significant changes in industries, and even digitalization of our daily lives. As software is at the center of such changes, and its importance and share in industry and society are ever increasing, it is becoming vital to ensure the quality of software to secure core software technologies. Without proper management of quality, software can often cause problems directly related to safety and security as seen from various software defect cases and security incidents which are commonly encountered. In addition, software quality management is essential to reduce the cost of producing, operating, and maintaining software-based products and services as well as to increase productivity and reduce time-to-market. Therefore, software needs to be well developed, thoroughly analyzed, and continuously maintained to ensure its adequate quality.
This Special Issue invites researchers and practitioners to present innovative and significant research achievements in the fields of software development, analysis, and maintenance which are employed to effectively manage, control, and ensure software quality. The topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Software and system comprehension;
- Source code analysis and manipulation;
- Software metrics;
- Software visualization;
- Software refactoring;
- Debugging and fault localization;
- Change and defect management;
- Software testing theories and methods;
- Software validation and verification;
- Program synthesis and repair;
- Software evolution and maintenance;
- Software quality assessment;
- Software quality management, control, assurance;
- Software reliability and safety;
- Software performance;
- Software security;
- Dependable and secure computing;
- Realistic and immersive media technology;
- Digital signal, image, and video processing technology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
