Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Environmental science and engineering research has seen major advances in the last four decades, particularly following the release of the Brudtland report from the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) in 1987. Physical, chemical, and biological processes determine the fate of solutes in open environmental systems. However, a great deal of the focus has been on individual components, such as water, soil, and air, and there remains a knowledge-gap related to engineered strategies for these environmental systems. In order to promote sustainable management of the environment, an integrated systems approach is required. Interactions between water, soil, and air, underpinned by transportation and transformation processes, play a vital role. Surface water, ground water and soil interactions are also important from an environmental systems engineering perspective.
This Special Issue will highlight a niche of environmental systems engineering topics, fields and areas of research, encompassing both the qualitative and the quantitatve aspects of surface and ground water interactions, water resources, water quality, waste management, and resource recovery. Contributions to this issue will provide a broad-based interdisciplinary platform with a particular focus on systems approaches in understanding and solving pertinent environmental engineering issues globally. We encourage authors to submit articles which address environmental system engineering in developing countries. Submissions related to integrated approaches for environmental monitoring, modelling, analyses and management are welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
